Big Disney News! Price Drop!

EPCOT_ECENTR2_7067318612

BIG DISNEY NEWS! Price Drop! It’s not every day that you’ll see the words “price drop” in a Walt Disney World post!

Disney has lowered pricing for the popular Memory Maker photo service. Pricing has dropped by $20. If purchased more than 3 days in advance of your trip, it is $149. Otherwise, it is $169.
Memory Maker offers professional photographs of your family taken while on vacation in Disney. Some photographers have magical extras, ride photos (and videos on some attractions) are included, and you can add your own photo embellishments! Here are a few embellished photos from my last family trip!

If you haven’t purchased your Memory Maker yet, now might just be the time to do it! Not sure if this is a temporary price drop of if the new price is here to stay, but I certainly wouldn’t chance it. Need more information about a Walt Disney World vacation? Let me know!

#FlashbackFriday Disney’s Hollywood Studios

HS_1989

#FlashbackFriday Pretend it is 1989! Walt Disney World has just opened a third park called Disney’s MGM Studios! That’s right! #HollywoodStudios used to be known as #MGMStudios!

When the park first opened in May 1989, it featured only a few attractions. The list of attractions included: The Great Movie Ride (still in operation), The Backstage Studio Tour (this was originally a 2 hour tour! It was later shortened and has since permanently closed to make way for new attractions), The Magic of Disney Animation Tour (changed several times over the years, permanently closed on July 12, 2015 to make way for the new Star Wars Launch Bay attraction), The Monster Sound Show (closed July 1997), and Superstar Television (closed September 1998).

The park’s original icon was the Earful Tower. The park added a new icon, The Sorcerer’s Hat in 2001 although the Earful Tower still stood and was able to be seen up close during The Backstage Studio Tour. The Sorcerer’s Hat was placed in front of the Chinese Theater that houses The Great Movie Ride. The hat icon was removed in 2015 leaving the Earful Tower to represent the park on the map again.

The restaurants 50’s Prime Time Cafe, Hollywood and Vine and the Hollywood Brown Derby were all original restaurants at the park’s opening. These three restaurants are still open today, though the park has added a few more.

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Show and Star Tours were both added later in the year in 1989. Indiana Jones came in August while Star Tours debuted in December.

Just for reference, here’s a look at this same entrance sign as it looked just a few years ago. I believe this photo is dated 2012.

Frozen Ever After Update! – Epcot’s Norway Pavilion

Frozen Ever After Concept Rendering

Epcot’s Norway Pavilion Update!!! – Many have been waiting patiently for more word about Epcot’s Norway Pavilion attraction. Maelstrom, a favorited boat ride attraction closed its doors in October 2014 to begin renovation to become Frozen Ever After (opening Spring 2016). Details have been released…read below in the comments for attraction information!

The boats in the new attraction will use the same path that the Maelstrom boats used, but the entire story of the ride has changed.

Guests will visit the “Winter In Summer” Festival that takes place in Arendelle.

The attraction queue will be set in Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post. You will be able to hear Oaken call “yoo-hoo”!

Olaf and Sven will begin the ride as they are preparing things for the festival. You will meet Grandpappy Troll in Troll Valley as he tells the story of how Anna meets Kristof.

You will hear Olaf singing while ice skating along side Anna, Kristof and Sven.

The centerpiece of the ride will be Elsa singing “Let It Go” from the balcony of her ice palace while simulated snow will fly around the room.

The ride will also feature Marshmallo, as well as the Snowgies from the Frozen Fever short.

The final scene has fireworks and a goodbye from all of the characters.

The Royal Sommerhus has been added as a meet and greet for Anna and Elsa and is based on an actual historic log cabin in Norway.

As much as I loved Maelstrom, and I was pretty sad to see it go….as time has passed I am getting a little excited about something new in the World Showcase. What about you? What are your thoughts on the upcoming Frozen attraction in the Norway Pavilion? Tell me what you think in the comments below!

It’s #DisneyDescendants Time!!!

Disney's Descendants Movie

Disney’s Descendants Movie

Are you ready to meet the children of four of Disney’s most ruthless villains? Descendants premiers July 31, 2015 at 8:00 pm on Disney Channel. #DisneyDescendants #Sponsored #HouseParty

In our house, we’re big villains fans! Always have been. So when we learned about this movie, we all became excited to see Disney bring it to life! From what we’ve seen so far – the costuming, the bright colors, the Disney star studded cast – we can’t wait to sit down and watch the movie.

As I am a huge Disney fan, and also a travel agent that specializes in Disney travel, it should come as no surprise that I would be planning to watch Descendants! But when House Party (www.houseparty.com) offered a Disney’s Descendants Viewing Party, I immediately applied! To my great surprise – I was accepted! My party pack came last week with all kinds of goodies to give away to my party goers.

Party Pack Items

Party Pack Items

My House Party party pack came with 12 clip on hair extensions (in red, blue, white and purple – one for each of the Descendants characters), 12 silicone bracelets (also one for each character), a tote bag, 12 iron on shirt transfers, 12 movie posters, a Descendants t-shirt, and 2 copies of Isle of the Lost (a prequel book to the Descendants movie).

I have my own copy of Isle of the Lost – which I read in anticipation of the movie, so I will be having a raffle and giving away the two included copies, and the Descendants t-shirt.

We will be having themed snacks – and Dole Whips! Our Disney loving family can’t wait for tomorrow night. What about you? Will you be watching? Are you planning your own party? Have you read Isle of the Lost yet? If so, what did you think? I want to hear from you! How excited are you about Disney’s Descendants? Let me know in the comments below!

I will be sharing pictures on my Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/Must.Meet.Mickey . Be sure to like the page to check them out – and feel free to share any pictures of your Descendants party there too!
